What is Viral Marketing?

First things first, what is viral marketing? Viral marketing is a marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message. It also encourages visitors to an online site to pass along a marketing message by providing an incentive for doing so. Or maybe it is techniques that seeks to exploit pre-existing social networks to produce exponential increases in brand awareness, through viral processes similar to the spread of an epidemic. It is word-of-mouth delivered and enhanced online; it harnesses the network effect of the Internet and can be very useful in reaching a large number of people rapidly. Any of the above are correct definitions of viral marketing. No matter what the product or program is this technique can produce nice results with little work.
Secondly, why would anyone use viral marketing? Easy it works. Lets say for example Bob is trying to get signups for a program such as Success University. Bob would use websites to sell the program and get signups so he can get paid. Once Bob has a sign up lets say Joe, then Bob would have to tell Joe what works for him. This would work but not as nice and as easy as viral marketing. Now lets say Bob is trying to get sign ups for Success University but instead comes across a viral way of marketing the program. That way he won’t have to reinvent the wheel or tell Joe everything that has been working for him. Joe then signs up for this viral marketing technique and gets more signups under him. He then lets the viral marketing technique work for him so he doesn’t have to. Get the picture? His 10 people also now have the same marketing technique that Bob used so they can get 10 people each. Bob now has 100 members under him and he only personally referred 10. I think you can see how fast this way of marketing can get signups for you in just about any program that rewards you for multiple levels of members. Note in some programs you get paid “Fast start bonuses” for your personally referred members. Bob would only have gotten paid for the 10 he personally referred. However he will continue to make money for the other 100 below his 10. It still is a great outcome for the little people he personally referred.
