Coaches Need To Live Right

By:Billy Dickson

Two college coaches have now had to stop coaching at the schools they are at because of some stuff that they did away from the game.Is it right that this has taken place. Is it right to have to quit or be fired for doing something away from the work

Two college coaches have now had to stop coaching at the schools they are at because of some stuff that they did away from the game.Is this right or should it only matter if you win games?

In Alabama a man who never coached a football game went to a topless bar so he was sacked as a head coach.

University president Robert Witt said that the coach failed to live his ``personal and professional life in a manner consistent with university policies.''

Then just a few days ago Iowa State and its men's basketball coach reached a settlement. The Iowa State Coach drank himself, his team and his school in to embarrassment in January.

After Iowa State's 64-59 loss to Missouri, he, went to a fraternity party. There, he got drunk, nuzzled young women and made a general fool of himself. He nastily criticized his own team at the party; he became belligerent with a male partygoer.

When reports of his conduct surfaced soon afterward, he made light of it to Iowa State officials and for some reason they dropped the matter.

But the issue arose again recently when the party's host gave pictures of the coach, drinking and kissing cheeks, to the Des Moines Register.

The coach may have a drinking problem but having that problem does not give any person the right to act in a wrong way.

The coach says he is looking forward to being a better husband and father. Lets all hope and pray he does become that. College young people and all kids need coaches who they can look up to for how they live.

As a born again Christian I believe in second chances but I also think the right thing has taken place by these coaches having to leave their jobs. No matter how good you are at your job who you are and how you act is the key.

I think both of these men should take time to get their lives back in order for their sake and their families.
